SUMATEC’s Total Integrated Project Management System encompasses all crucial areas of design/engineering, procurement, planning/scheduling, construction, commissioning and warranty maintenance in order to provide a seamless teamwork, ensure a smooth and efficient project execution.

SUMATEC is capable of providing basic and extended basic and detailed design work to meet the stringent requirements of safety, cost, ease of operation and energy efficient process of systems for the various oil and gas, petrochemical and other industrial plants.

From its vast record of reliable suppliers and specialized sub-contractors, SUMATEC is able to source for very competitively priced materials and services and submit highly competitive tenders for any project.

SUMATEC maintains over 400 permanent construction staff consisting of project managers, construction managers, superintendents, field engineers, administrative managers, craft supervisors, and other support personnel together with a huge inventory of heavy equipment, and advanced construction management systems and techniques, offering reliable services in the control of schedule, material, quality and safety.

SUMATEC takes particular pride in providing construction works conforming to internationally recognised standards for all its clients. It is the company policy to employ third-party inspection teams to judge and verify the quality and workmanship of its works. Regular Quality Control audits are carried out to ensure that every process of the project meets the desired standard. SUMATEC’s Quality System has been certified to conform to ISO 9000 standards since 1996,a testimony to SUMATEC’s commitment to Quality. In addition to that, the Company has established its Quality Assurance Policy and Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) programmes to ensure that the services provided by the Company comply with the specified contractual, safety and legal requirement of the project.

SUMATEC’s commissioning services include mechanical completion tests, test runs, start-up operation tests and system performance and operational integrity tests. Upon commissioning of a job, SUMATEC also offers quality maintenance services. Experienced personnel are available for routine maintenance, emergency service and equipment overhaul.

SUMATEC constructed one of the largest oil terminal in Malaysia i.e. the Klang Valley Petroleum Bulk Storage Terminal with 150,000 cu.m. storage for SHELL/ PETRONAS. The Group also completed the largest jet fuel storage and distribution terminal in South-east Asia with 100,000 cu.m storage at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport. The abundant supply of natural gas in Malaysia has provided opportunity for SUMATEC to be involved in construction of onshore gas terminals, one of such is the Sabah onshore gas terminal.

Petrochemical Plants

Since its establishment, SUMATEC has been involved in the construction of various petrochemical plants. Among the major projects completed are PETRONAS Ammonia Syngas Plant, PETRONAS Polyethylene Plant, PETRONAS PVC Plant, PETRONAS/BASF Acrylic Acid Plant, BP AMOCO PTA Plant and Titan Himont Naphtha Cracker Plant.

SUMATEC has successfully constructed many large scale state-of-the-art waste water treatment facilities for petrochemical and other industrial plants. The reinforced concrete structures, such as the circular clarifier tank, have to be constructed to exact dimensions to accommodate the mechanical equipment to be installed.

SUMATEC has completed both crude oil and natural gas pipeline, including related facilities such as metering station, block valve station, road and river crossing by conventional pipe jacking or the state-of-the-art horizontal directional drilling method, pumping station etc.

Offshore Marine Structures & Facilities

Backed by the experience gained in the onshore fabrication and installation work for the oil and gas facilities, SUMATEC has ventured into the offshore marine structures by embarking on the fabrication work for the 13,000MT submersible rig for Caspian Shipyard Ltd. located in Baku, Republic of Azerbaijan.

REVAMP, REJUVENATING & DEBOTTLENECKING

Having successfully executed numerous green field oil and gas as well as petrochemical plant construction, SUMATEC also offers the services of revamping, rejuvenation and debottlenecking old and uneconomic oil and gas facilities and petrochemical plants. SUMATEC is currently involved in four major revamp and rejuvenation projects at PETRONAS Gas Processing Plant 1, 2, 3 & 4, Asean Bintulu Fertilizer Plant and PETRONAS Malaysia LNG plants in Bintulu, Sarawak.
