Biomass & Renewable Energy

กก

SUMATEC has identified this sector as the next booming industry for developing countries in this region. With the increasing environmental concerns on emission of Greenhouse Gases and their effect on Global Warming, there is a growing demand to tap into this green biomass energy for conversion to renewable heat and power.

The continuous increasing in demands and with their depleting resources had pushed the fossil fuel prices up to the unprecedented levels lately. This has created more awareness as well as the drive to recover this readily available biomass fuel for processing and converting into renewable energy - even co-generation (combined heat & power) whenever possible.

SUMATEC has steadily built up in-house expertise and competency in this biomass processing technology and small renewable power generation system. Presently, the Company is actively engaged in a few 'green-field projects' under this Small Renewable Energy Power Program (SREPP), provided by Malaysian Government to promote the use of biomass as renewable energy. It is our intention to replicate such IPP project and to create value while riding on its growth potential.

Malaysia having the most oil palm estates and being number one producer of palm oil in the world, also generate abundant quantity of biomass from this industry. The availability of these 'cheap or competitive' biomass fuels shall provide advantages and opportunity for accelerated take off for SREPP after initial incubation period.

In addition to this renewable energy, SUMATEC is also working with both local and foreign partners to embark on 'Carbon Credit' transaction with developed countries. Since most countries, including Malaysia are signatory to Kyoto Protocol which calls for limit cum reduction in greenhouse gases emission, the deployment of Carbon Credit as a Financial Instrument to encourage and promote compliance has great potential to be tapped into.

SUMATEC has thus established itself as one of the pioneer in this Biomass & Renewable Energy Sector which is still in the infancy stage but with healthy growth records.
