SUMATEC Resources Bhd has won a RM254.16 million contract for the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning of a bio-ethanol plant in Thailand.

It told Bursa Malaysia yesterday that its wholly-owned Sumatec Corp Sdn Bhd and Thai partner EC Chemical Bio Co Ltd were awarded the contract from Renewable Energy Prachin Co Ltd on March 30.

It involves building a 500,000 litres per day bio-ethanol plant complete with a biogas plant, an organic fertiliser plant and a chip making unit.

The plant will be completed in 20 months and the contract is expected to contribute positively to Sumatec for the financial years ending December 31 2009 and 2010
